self portrait




I did this in oils on un primed illustration board- I wasn't sure how it would go, but as soon as i saw how absorbent it was and what this did to my brushstrokes, I decided to adopt a different process. This is the result of that.

  1. cool! looks like a Carriere or early Vuillard.

    a lot of the Nabis and Post-Impressionists worked on stuff like cardboard to get these kinds of effects.

  2. If your illustration board was unprimed its going to degrade as the oils soak into it.
